The Innkeepers movie trailer.
I have chosen the trailer the innkeepers as I like the concept of the trailer and how it creates suspense. The trailer begins slow and with a gradual build up of the story line around the location of the movie and the background of what has happened in the past there. The trailer at this point goes into section where they are getting ready to do research into the haunted inn. At this point it uses slow and sinister music to create a feeling of tension with in the viewer. The speed of the cinematography is slow to build up tension then suddenly speeds up when something scary happens to help make the scary section more effective. It then goes slow again to build more tension for the next section of the trailer. This continues throughout the trailer. The end section of the trailer uses a effective piece of old fashioned music with no sounds from the movie itself with also helps to make the tension effective and makes you pay more attention to what is happening on the scene as it is the only sense you can use to figure out what is happening. The final section has a quick edit of different images between dead and alive people which makes no sense but adds the movie as you want to know what is happening or what happens in the end. This section of confusion leads the viewer to want to know more as they don't like the feeling of not knowing the outcome. I think this trailer works as it creates suspense well and makes you jump with out giving to much of the storyline away. It also allows you to understand that it is a haunted inn but you don't know how haunted it is. The trailer is good at giving the viewers hints and allowing the viewers mind to want more. The effectiveness of the build up through the trailer makes the more scary sections more dramatic. The location is also a traditional innocent looking inn which gives you a sense of binary oppositions.
